Ortho Clinical Diagnostics (OCD) has launched a 24-7 command centre for Europe and Asia Pacific to track the performance of clinical laboratory instruments.
The Remote Monitoring Centre in Strasbourg provides predictive monitoring services to laboratories by continuously detecting and tracking instrument problems before they affect diagnostic test results.
The new monitoring centre is designed to assist medical laboratories that are facing budget reductions and increasing test volumes. It supports laboratories in 18 countries, including the UK.
"The Remote Monitoring Centre in Strasbourg enables us to connect customers with multi-lingual technical support specialists and engineers, 24 hours a day, before a potential problem arises," said Troy Taylor, Vice President, Worldwide Customer Technical Service, OCD. "The Remote Monitoring Centres advance instrument servicing from the old 'break-fix' model to a new 'predict and maintain' model."
The Remote Monitoring Centre uses the proprietary e-Connectivity system to track a steady stream of data from Vitros laboratory instruments. The secure broadband connection allows OCD technical support specialists and engineers to monitor, review and upgrade system performance, with predictive alerts helping them to identify service needs early.
Predictive alerts on equipment or assays are automatically sent to the technical support team when specific events or trends are observed. The team can access the instrument remotely.
The Strasbourg Remote Monitoring Centre is housed in OCD's European Support Centre.
