Glasgow-based company D3 Technologies Ltd, a leading provider of trace level detection technologies for molecular diagnostics, has changed its name to Renishaw Diagnostics Ltd.
D3 Technologies was a Strathclyde University spin-out before being acquired by the Renishaw Group, a leading global supplier of engineering technologies, medical devices and Raman spectroscopy systems.
Renishaw Diagnostics is a pioneer in trace level detection technologies based on the exploitation of Surface Enhanced Resonance Raman Scattering (SERRS). It is focused on developing and commercialising in vitro diagnostic and clinical research products, with the goal of establishing itself as the leading supplier of automated, multiplex, high-sensitivity molecular diagnostics products to detect human infectious diseases.
David A. Burns, CEO of Renishaw Diagnostics, said: "The change of name reflects the direct focus of the Company to become the premier provider of automated multiplex diagnostic and clinical research systems. These patented technology-based systems will enable our customers to carry out fast, reliable and simplified disease detection, leading to improved patient care.
"This move demonstrates the outstanding commitment and belief of our parent company in our people, our strategy and our science, and brings the power of the Renishaw global enterprise to enable us to accelerate our development of these groundbreaking products."
Sir David McMurtry, Renishaw's Chairman and Chief Executive, commented: "We are in the process of doubling the footprint at Renishaw Diagnostics' facilities in Glasgow, and the team are recruiting a world-class commercial organisation that will enable us to take our diagnostics products directly to market."
